Escape vs RAV4: Performance

The 2020 Ford Escape gives you several power customization options with its four available engines. Standardly, this vehicle is powered by the 1.5L EcoBoost® engine that generates 181 horsepower and 190 lb-ft of torque. Then, upgrading to the available 2.5 EcoBoost® hybrid engine or high-performing 2.0L EcoBoost® engine will improve your driving performance. Its Auto Stop-Start feature elevates efficiency by turning off the engine while you're stopped.

The latter of these available engines will also almost double your power output as well. When your Escape is equipped with the 2.0L EcoBoost® engine, you'll see a horsepower of 250 and 280 lb-ft of torque. Use this power to conquer the streets or tow a whopping maximum trailer weight of 3,500 pounds when properly equipped.

Ford Escape Towing Capacity Review

Unfortunately, you won't see as much strength behind the wheel with the 2020 Toyota RAV4's one engine. It's a 2.5L 4-cylinder engine that puts out just 203 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque that makes for a less robust driving experience. This also results in a standard towing capacity of just 1,500 pounds and a max of 1,750 pounds on more advanced trims.

2020 Escape vs 2020 RAV4: Exterior

No matter where or how long you're driving, you count on exterior features for everything-from making a grand experience to important things, like visibility. Luckily, both the 2020 Ford Escape and the 2020 Toyota RAV4 come equipped with standard Daytime Running Lamps. These not only give you better visibility, but they also help you appear more visible to other drivers on the road. For even better visibility, you can opt for integrated fog lights in each vehicle.

Both models also offer panoramic sunroofs, but the Ford Escape takes it one step further with its Vista Roof®. Available on three of five trims, this roof spans nearly the whole length of the vehicle. It features a large forward panel that tilts open for fresh air or opens fully for an immersive experience. Plus, it comes with a fixed rear skylight. The panoramic roof in the RAV4 is a little less impressive, but it does offer tilt and slide motion as well. However, it's only available on the higher trims of this model.

Ford Escape vs Toyota RAV4: Interior

When it comes to interiors, you'll be excited to hear that both the 2020 Escape and the 2020 RAV4 prioritize comfort and convenience. Both vehicles offer dual-zone electronic automatic temperature control systems, available leather trimming, and available heated steering wheels.

However, the Escape's interior takes things a bit further with additional features, like 10-way power-adjustable front seats and leather trim for a luxurious and cozy time in your cabin. You won't get quite as many seat-adjustment options in the RAV4 that only offers 8-way adjustable seats.

Ford vs Toyota: Technology

We count on technology to make our lives easier, so why should it be different in our vehicles? Luckily, the Ford Escape and the Toyota RAV4 have plenty of innovative features that surround you in advanced tech.

Both come with infotainment systems that offer an available 8-inch screen. In the Escape, you'll find the SYNC® 3 system that comes with Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ as well as Traffic with Travel Link® powered by SiriusXM®. This system allows you to connect your smartphone, gain information on traffic, and access tons of stations to enjoy music, talk radio, sports, news, and so much more.

The RAV4 features a similar multimedia system. However, it doesn't include the abundance of systems that the Ford model offers. Without on-the-road Traffic and Travel Link® services, you might feel less connected and informed.

The 2020 Escape's technology suite also features the available FordPass Connect™ that lets you sync

your phone to your vehicle to receive important updates, check fuel levels, and start and unlock your

vehicle remotely. Such a feature is not found in the 2020 RAV4.

Escape vs RAV4: Safety

Nothing is more crucial than safety on the road. Ford and Toyota know this, which is why both of these SUVs are equipped with a plethora of intuitive safety systems that give you a second pair of eyes behind the wheel.

In these two vehicles, you'll find driving-assistive aids that help monitor your blind spot, make sure changing lanes is safe and free of collision risks, and adjust your high beams when other vehicles come your way.

Although these two vehicles offer similar safety systems, there's one safety feature found in the Ford Escape that's not optional in the Toyota RAV4. The Enhanced Active Park Assist in the Escape makes parking easy, no matter how you're doing it. It aids with parallel parking, gliding into tight spots, and parking in reverse. Plus, it has a Side Sensing System that will notify you if you're too close to objects. A parking assist system is available for the Toyota crossover, but it doesn't offer the advanced features stated above.
