Escape vs RAV4: Performance

The 2019 Ford Escape gives you several power customization options with its three available engines. Standardly, this vehicle is powered by a 2.5L iVCT 4-cylinder engine that generates 168 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque. Then, upgrading to the available 1.5L EcoBoost® engine or high-performing 2.0L EcoBoost® engine will improve your driving performance with the Auto Stop-Start feature, which improves efficiency by turning the engine off while you're stopped.

The latter of these available engines will also almost double your power output. When your Escape is equipped with the 2.0L EcoBoost® engine, you'll see a horsepower of 245 and 275 lb-ft of torque. Use this power to conquer the streets or tow a whopping maximum trailer weight of 3,500 pounds when properly equipped.

Unfortunately, you won't see as much strength behind the wheel with the 2019 Toyota RAV4's one engine. It's a 2.5L 4-cylinder engine that puts out just 203 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque, making for a less robust driving experience. This also results in a standard towing capacity of 1,500 pounds and a max of 1,750 pounds on more advanced trims.

2019 Escape vs 2019 RAV4: Exterior

No matter where or how long you're driving, you count on exterior features for everything, from making a grand experience to important things like visibility. Luckily enough, both the 2019 Ford Escape and the 2019 Toyota RAV4 come equipped with standard daytime running lights. These not only give you better visibility, but they also help you appear more visible to others on the road.

For even better visibility, you can opt for LED daytime running lights in both vehicles. However, you'll have more access to them in the Ford Escape as they're available in three out of its four trim levels. The RAV4, on the other hand, only offers these headlights in its top trim levels-so you'll have to do quite a bit of upgrading to access them.

Ford Escape vs Toyota RAV4: Interior

When it comes to interior, you'll be excited to hear that both the 2019 Escape and the 2019 RAV4 prioritize comfort and convenience. Both vehicles offer Dual-Zone Electronic Automatic Temperature Control systems, available leather trimming, and available heated steering wheels.

However, the Escape takes things a bit further with additional features, like 10-way power adjustable front seats and leather trim for a luxurious and cozy time in your cabin. You won't get quite as many seat adjustment options in the RAV4 as it only offers 8-way adjustable seats.

Ford vs Toyota: Technology

We count on technology to make our lives easier, so why should it be different in our vehicles? Luckily enough, the Ford Escape and Toyota RAV4 have plenty of innovative features that surround you in advanced tech.

Both come with infotainment systems that offer an available 8-inch screen. In the Escape, you'll find the SYNC® 3 system, which comes with Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ as well as Traffic and Travel Link® powered by SiriusXM®. This system allows you to connect your smartphone, gain information on traffic, and receive tons of stations to enjoy music, talk radio, sports, news, and so much more.

The RAV4 features the Entune™ 3.0 system. Although you will find features like Apple CarPlay™ and SiriusXM Radio®, it doesn't include the abundance of systems that the Ford model offers. Without Android Auto™ and the on the road Traffic and Travel Link® services, you might feel less connected and informed.

The 2019 Escape also features the available FordPass® Connect, which lets you to sync your phone to your vehicle to receive important updates, check fuel levels, and start and unlock your vehicle remotely. Unfortunately, such a feature is not found in the 2019 RAV4.

Escape vs RAV4: Safety

Nothing is more crucial than safety on the road. Ford and Toyota know this, which is why both of these SUVs are equipped with a plethora of intuitive safety systems that give you a second pair of eyes behind the wheel.

In these two vehicles, you will find driving-assistive aids that help you monitor your blind spot, make sure changing lanes is safe and free of collision risks, and adjust your high beams when other vehicles come your way.

Although these two vehicles offer similar safety systems, there is one found in the Ford Escape that is not optional in the Toyota RAV4. The Enhanced Active Park Assist with Parallel Parking in the Escape makes parking easy, no matter how you're doing it. It aids with parallel parking, gliding into tight spots, and parking in reverse. Plus, it has a Side Sensing System that will notify you if you're too close to objects.
