Heavy-Duty Engines for Heavy-Duty Hauling
When you begin to fill your Ford Transit to the brim with people and their supplies, you'll quickly find that performance is a must. Thankfully, Ford has developed the Transit with three unique engines that all provide ample thrust.
To start, there's the 3.7L V6 engine which is able to scrounge together 275 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. If you want to continue building on that power, you'll find the 3.5L EcoBoost® V6 engine to be the choice as it delivers 310 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque.
Lastly, there's the diesel option. This 3.2L configuration is able to generate 185 horsepower and a whopping 350 lb-ft of torque. The 6-speed automatic transmission will be guiding your van, providing a stable and smooth transition between gears.
Enormous Interior
It comes as no real surprise that the Ford Transit has a sprawling interior that is capable of fitting the extended family and their many supplies.
For instance, the Long-EL version of the Transit presents some ludicrous measurements. In terms of cargo area, you'll have 100.5 cubic feet just behind the fifth-row seating. Behind the fourth row, the number climbs to 184 cubic feet. Behind the third? 230 cubic feet. If you keep going, you'll find 301.7 cubic feet behind the second. For the grand finale, there's a cavernous 414.1 cubic feet of total cargo area.
Many different interior configurations exist also. If you're simply hoping to max out your passenger room, you'll find available seating for upwards of 15 people.
Trim Levels for the Ford Transit
Ford provides each of their models in different trim levels. This is an important part of the car-shopping process as different trims provide motorists with a different assortment of options.
For example, the three engines we've discussed previously will play a role in the trim level that you ultimately land. Also of note, infotainment and connectivity features, driver-assistance technology, interior and exterior styling perks, plus convenience and comfort features will all be factored into the trim.
For the Ford Transit specifically, you can go for the standard, XL Passenger Van trim or upgrade to the XLT Passenger Van trim level.
